What if no one cared enough to search for something or someone precious? What if they had gotten so fed up no matter what happened they were going to give up and write off?
The older brother in the prodigal son didn’t go out and search for his missing younger brother, why? After the younger son came back the oldest wasn’t happy, in fact he was pretty bitter and angry about his brother showing up at all.
What does that say of the sibling relationship? What does it say about us as the family of God when we don’t go out and search for the lost coin, brother or sister who let us down, but instead write them off and think its their problem when really is it? I’m not so sure, we ARE our brother’s keeper.
My friend, I am the older brother in quite a few ways; I’ll be honest with you, I’ve had feelings bitterness and self righteousness towards the lost and fallen away when I should’ve remembered what I had been before I came into this life. God spoke to me through this, actually He spoke to me through my mother when she was telling me about the book called “The Prodigal God.”
Lord Jesus forgive me, keep pride and self righteousness far from me and let me learn again how love the way You do. In Your name amen.
